Executive Director – Sean Chiasson joined MLI as an intern in January of 2013, helping us gear up for our Lobuche East Friendship Expedition. After his internship, Sean continued working for MLI as a whitewater and rock climbing instructor. In February 2016 Sean took over the leadership of MLI as Executive Director with vision to take MLI to the next level. Sean enjoys spending his time in the enchanted wild with friends climbing, backpacking, mountaineering, rafting, skiing, and trail running. In 2012, Sean graduated from Walla Walla University with a BBA in Accounting. Sean also attended NOLS for an Outdoor Educator Course and holds current certification and experience as a AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, Swift Whitewater Rescue Technician, and Wilderness First Responder.
MLI India – David Sandvik is a lover of nature and of people, and spends as much time in the outdoors as possible, preferably with friends and a camera. An avid traveler, he has spent time in Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Canada, Nepal, the Philippines, while being based out of the Indian Himalayas for the past 4 years. His passion for understanding people has lead him to study Japanese, Illocano, and Hindi. David is a WMI Wilderness First Responder.
MLI India – Garret McLarty holds a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with minors in Disaster Preparedness, Survival and Rescue, and Emergency Management from Union College in Lincoln, NE. He has training in Swift-water and high-angle rescue and wilderness medical response. He enjoys climbing, paddling, and biking along with understanding other cultures. Working in medical clinics in the Philippines and Nicaragua inspired him to pursue his passion of serving people in remote places full time.
